Gayle Hodges
My work relates to the general theme of landscape. Using either acrylic or oil paints on textured canvas, my aim is to draw attention to mundane subjects such as the ground we might walk on and think no more about; to wonder or remember what or who might have been there before. I am on a journey of discovery in my painting, hoping to give a sense of the history of an apparently insignificant place with perhaps a hint of nostalgia.
The random application of a marble dust surface pays homage to the work of The Boyle Family who threw darts at a world map in order to select the sites for their World Series
