  Jackie Mackay

Jackie originally trained in textile design and then gained a first class honours degree in Fine Art. She was a winner of the Charles Henry Foyle Trust Award in 1997. Her work has been exhibited widely and is held in private collections in the UK and Canada.

My works are predominantly abstract and inspired by the contours and shapes of the disappearing industrial landscape of the Midlands. Paintings are made from many situations and their sources are many layered and distant in time. Although photographs and sketches may be used in the initial stages of a work these are really only used as aids to memory.
