  Lisa Thompson

I paint people who don't exist, characters from films that provoke some emotion in the viewer. Films provide the viewer with an illusion of reality, an artificial reality where colour and light conspire to create a perfect thin surface. Working from photographs taken directly from my television screen I isolate a single frame and translate this surface perfection into paint.

With an MA in Fine Art I've exhibited extensively in the West Midlands area and London. Recent exhibitions include New Art Birmingham, 18th Storey - The Haddon Tower Project, and Choca-block at the Coningsby Gallery in London.
I currently produce one-off paintings and commissions using various media on canvas and aluminium.
